In 2001 the PRA board realized it
needed to be able to apply for grants
and provide tax deductions for donors, as a result they created a nonprofit
501(c) (3) corporation. This autonomous special projects branch of the
Pine River Association is called The Pine River Watershed Enhancement
Fund (PRWEF). All money raised is tax-deductible, put in the Tustin Bank,
supervised by selected PRA board members, and spent only on the direct
river expenses specified in our charter. This agency has allowed us to do
many new things for the river.
