The Pine River Association has been a Friend of the Pine River and powerful advocate for its care since 1973. Areas of emphasis include planning groups, working with agencies, coordinating different groups, and working directly to benefit the river.  It has become clear in recent years that a funding source needed to be be created with the sole purpose of proposing and funding river projects.  In 2001 a  nonprofit 501(c) (3) corporation was created, qualifying contributors for tax deductions under the Internal Revenue Code.  This new corporation is called the Pine River Watershed Enhancement Fund (PRWEF).  All money raised is tax-deductible, put in the Luther Bank, supervised by EVERY board member listed below and spent only on the direct river expenses specified in our charter.
